Modern overcalls are getting lighter and lighter every day.  It is critical that we have a firm understanding of what our bids mean in order not to let overcalls push you around.  This class takes a step-by-step approach to discussing the various positions we find ourselves in after the opponents overcall.  This class includes a lot of very useful review that covers many common mistakes.

In the second part of this two part series on dealing with overcalls Gavin continues to go step by step through extremely common every day problems.  The problems we discuss in this almost 2 hour lesson are quite difficult, but cover details that every intermediate bridge player must understand in order to get to the next level.

This lesson digs deep into the "value showing double" that was mentioned in Dealing with Overcalls Part 1. While everything in this lesson is standard, it is quite a bit more advanced than dealing with Overcalls Part 1.

The first part of this two-part series will be about defining reverses and discussing the fundamental differences between strong jump shifts and reverses. We will also answer common questions like 'Are reverses on in competition?  Do reverses in 2/1 show extras?  How forcing are reverses?'

There are so many common mistakes made related to reverses.  We will go through tons of bidding examples and iron out lots of these issues.

You do not need to attend live.  Your purchase comes with full access to the video replay along with an elaborate set of notes.

The major problem with reverse auctions is that opener only promises 17 and responder only 6.  This means we are not necessarily going to game.  On the other hand, responder is unlimited and may have an opening hand that wants to look for slam.

This well-known problem has been solved with a modern method of having a "slow down" bid.  This class will go through the modern standard method for how responder can slow down reverse auctions by using the cheaper of 2NT and the 4th suit.  We will go through responder's responsibilities and how opener should react.

One of the quickest ways to improve your pair game scores is by taking more overtricks.  When everyone is in the same contract an overtrick can earn you as much as 25-50% more matchpoints on a board.  This class will help you build a thought process as declarer that focuses on eliminating losers.   You will also learn about when it is right to risk your contract for overtricks.

After taking the class you will have access to the video, notes and also the ability to replay the practice hands demonstrated in the class right on our website.
