Would you also pull NT if your Heart suit ran on Board 1?
You could pass in that case since you would also have the diamond ace entry. If you didn't have a side entry though then be careful. Sometimes partner has a heart void.
After listening to so much info about the magnificent "4H Opening Bid", I thought this would be the perfect opportunity ; 6-4 and self-sufficient suit, and pretty much the only place to play. If opps have all the strength, I'm happy to make it very difficult for them. And yes, I do appreciate the fact, that maybe partner has all the values, so am I really dissuading him from bidding slam? Oh well, thanks!
I think its a better bid if you are in 3rd seat or 1st seat, when you are more likely to be preempting the opponents. Its not crazy but its very swingy. Its taking the whole hand and gambling it on the first bid. Its not my style. I like to open 4 with hands that I would normally open 3, but are a little more distributional. Not with hands that my alternate is opening 1.
