Thanks for playing in the Wolpert Bridge Duplicate game. We hope you enjoyed the game.

We used the same dealset as the 05/16/2023 game.

Hi Josh/Gavin On board 6, what would X on souths second bid mean after (1D) 1H (X) 1S (2D) ? I thought it might show 2 card support for partners suit as I recall that meaning in a different spot (I think XX after negative double) the robot seemed to take it as penalty as they passed it out. Doesn’t seem like a penalty double spot but not sure. Worked out okay as 2D went one off for +200 but that wasn’t the intention.

Double by south would be extra values with no clear direction. It might have a doubleton spade but that isn't promised.

Hi, on board 4, would 3S in response to the 2D Michael’s bid still be a mixed raise in this spot as per the Michael’s and unusual class or is there any difference here. I would like to bid 3S weak with North if that were available but it probably isn’t.

Yes it would, and that would be a very good bid on the north hand. It would have gotten south to bid game. That being said, I think south should double 3♥ or do something at least, they were too strong to pass over 3♥.

B1, If 5422 shape with a five card major and a four card suit lower in rank, e.g. 5242, would you still open 1NT or open 1S and the rebid 2D? Thanks!

B3: Is the second double always a power double? Here does it promise 18+or is it just forcing partner to bid in order to compete?

Josh DonnTeacherJun 20, 2026

Yes the second double shows a good hand.
