Hi, A quick question about the lead in hand 8. The robot led the 6 of diamonds instead of the 5 of diamonds. I had bid the suit and the robot had four diamonds headed by a J. Thanks for your answer and help.

Thanks Gavin! Before your lesson I would not have opened 1NT on this North hand. I went through most of what you were thinking, and decided on 1NT.

On boards 7 & 8, my partner and I played people who opened a weak 2D with a 5 card suit in first seat, so my partner couldn't open a weak 2S as you suggested. So they opponents played in 3D-2 on 7. On board 8, North opened a 4 card spade suit. The good news is we found our heart fit and played in 3H, but because of the 1S opening, S led AS & a S, getting spade ruff, the only lead that can't make 3H. don't care about the score, just the learning opportunity. My question is, do the opponents need to alert that they aren't playing standard american systems in general and if not, should they in your learning games? We had a very different learning experience. As far as I can tell, there isn't any convention card to look at, etc.
