Board 4. As East I doubled 1S and South (Lia) passed! West (Lia) bid 3H - and I passed. I thought my double showed heart support and 13 points and that's all I had. Now South bid 3S (go figure!) and that came back to me. I passed again, still believing I had fully described my hand. Please comment on that bidding.
I believe you mean board 5. I think you bid fine. West should probably force to game opposite a takeout double of 1S. The cards west has are golden.
Hi Gavin - on board 3, I like the idea of staying low with a balanced 11 but how widely should that be applied - here over a 12-14 1NT by South, should north bid stayman? - if so should N raise the 2S reply to 3. I guess it would be the same problem if N had 8 points over a strong NT opener. Similarly would you pass with a balanced 11 without a 4 card major opposite a weak NT opener or similarly with 8 points opposite a strong NT ? Thanks
Sorry I have no experience with weak NT. My general philosophy is if the most I can have is 25 points and at most an 8 card fit, I do not look for game. I will upgrade sometimes when I love my spots, but thats my general philosophy
B6. After I unwisely competed with 2S my partner (full Gavin Lia) raised to 4Sx-5.
You should report it to intobridge. There is a report button on the hand record. You can even do it while you are playing. They are quick to fix bugs and that south hand clearly isnt a 4♠ bid.
