Thanks for playing in the Wolpert Bridge Duplicate game. We hope you enjoyed the game.

We used the same dealset as the 10/22/2024 Game .

Regarding the suggested auction on Board 8 (where the responder has 5 spades and bids 2C initially followed by 2S after the 1NT opener rebids 2H), should responder bid 2C if he has 5 hearts instead of 5 spades? If opener rebids 2D, you can bid 2H, but if opener bids 2S, is it OK to bid 3H? Is this system covered in one of Gavin's lessons? If so, which one.?

Played this on Oct 20/26 IntoBridge Lia did not bid like you (expert) on boards 1,2 and 3. On all 3 they did the exact opposite of what you say. B1- they opened 4S. B2-they jumped to 4H after 2H. B3 they invited after 2S. In addition B6 they didn’t Texas. B7 they used 2N instead of a smooth pass. I understand that it is a robot and they can do weird things. But they are supposed to bid Gavin’s Full Master Series and this is the results/judgment of Lia. I love these weekly tournaments as they offer immense value for learning but this particular week Lia let me down and made it a bit harder to learn. Just wanted to share in case there is some opportunity to refine Lia a bit more towards Gavin!

IntoBridge is constantly working on refining Lia. I think she will only develop better judgment over time.

Hey Gavin, Guess you’re a bit busy right now with NABC but one question on board 4. I wasn’t sure whether transfers after 1M X were on after an overcall and negative double but thought maybe they were and bid 2H which works out great on this hand as you said. I checked back in the lesson notes for that lesson though and couldn’t find any examples over an overcall. There is a difference here as, clearly, there is also a cue bid available - how do you work that. I’d have thought that 2D shows hearts, 2C transfer into the cue bid shows a limit raise of spades and 1NT shows clubs but not sure if that’s right. Could you clarify please and also, do you have any more examples of transfers after 1M overcall X ?

Yes the transfers should also be on after a negative double. If you bid the suit below a cue bid, it transfer to the cue bid and shows a good raise.

Okay thanks - good that it does work how I expected
